Kia India is getting ready to release a newer version of its popular family car, the Carens, which will now be called the Kia Clavis. Before it officially comes out on May 8, 2025, test cars of the Clavis have been seen, showing important design changes, especially the new back lights connected by LEDs.
The pictures and recent hints show that the Kia Clavis will have a fresh look at the back with modern back lights that are connected by an LED strip, similar to what is seen on the bigger Kia Carnival. This design makes the back of the car look more fancy and up-to-date. The back bumper has also been changed with a big silver part, and the white light for backing up has been moved to the lower bumper. The back door also seems to have been changed a little.
These changes at the back go well with the changes already shown for the front, which include a new, straighter, SUV-like design with sporty LED front lights that have a special three-part look and upside-down L-shaped LED daytime running lights, like the Kia EV6 and the recently released Kia Syros. The front also shows a covered-up grill and a strong-looking front bumper with a silver fake protector plate.
The Kia Clavis is expected to be sold as a more high-end option compared to the current Carens, which will still be sold – like Maruti Suzuki does with the Ertiga and XL6.
Besides the new looks, the Kia Clavis is expected to have better safety features (Level-2 ADAS), a glass roof that opens, cameras that show all around the car, two 10.25-inch screens (one for the driver’s info and one for entertainment), seats that blow cool air in the front, a good sound system, lights inside that you can change, and wireless phone charging. The inside is also expected to have a changed dashboard and new seat covers, maybe using more eco-friendly materials.
Under the hood, the Kia Clavis will probably use the same engines as the current Carens: a 1.5-litre regular petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, with different options for manual and automatic gearboxes.
The Kia Clavis is expected to cost more than the current Kia Carens, which costs between ₹10.60 lakh and ₹19.70 lakh (before taxes). It will compete with cars like the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Toyota Rumion, while being a more premium choice for buyers.
More details about the Kia Clavis, including all its features and price, will be officially announced when it is released on May 8, 2025. Keep watching for more news.
